My story

[p]Not content with one outing in 2017, David and Mattie are back... and like the phoenix from the ashes lined up again on Easter Saturday for the start of the Devizes to Westminster International Canoe Race 2019. A 125 mile non-stop race with 77 portages, one of the toughest endurance events of its kind.[/p][p]Despite the conditions we made it to the finish this time! We hit all cut off times down the course, but slowed by the conditions, just missed the second tide on Easter Day. We set off again at 0610 on the next tide on Monday, arriving at Westminster at 0900. [/p][p]Official time - 44:24:57. 114th out of 145 starters. [/p][p]Many paddlers didn't make it and we are relieved and proud to have completed the course.[/p][p]It is a huge commitment to even get to the start line and we would like to thank our long suffering families for putting up with our training weekends for the past 9 months.[/p][p]Your support means a great deal to us and our chosen charities. Thank you so much. [/p][p]David and Mattie[/p][p][br][/p]
