[p]David Farries and Peter Heath will be trekking the 160Km Arctic Circle Trail in Greenland in aid of the Scottish Fire & Rescue Service Family Support Trust.[/p][p]This unique challenge will see us arrive in Kangerlussuaq, hiking to Sisimiut in under 7 days completely self sufficiently i.e. with all our food, clothing and survival gear on our back! Being North of the Arctic Circle we will see limited nightfall but are likely to be faced with a variety of 'interesting' weather and wildlife. The trail itself is regarded as one of the world's classic long distance hiking routes and is renowned for its remoteness. [/p][p]We are delighted to be undertaking this challenge as part of the SFRS Family Support Trust's #Steptember event that will hopefully see hundreds of supporters sign up and complete 26.2, 50 or even 100 miles over the month of September 2019. The Family Support Trust exists to provide financial and other support services to serving and retired Scottish Fire & Rescue personnel and their families, who may require assistance in times of need. As Trustees on the Board of the Family Support Trust we truly understand the benefits that the charity provides and we are hoping that #Steptember will capture the imagination and raise much needed funds.[/p][p]We would be hugely grateful if you are able to contribute with a donation to our fundraising challenge (every penny we raise will go to the charity) and we would also encourage anybody who feels like they'd like to get active to sign up themselves for #Steptember.[/p][p]Thanks very much for visiting our page.[/p][p]David & Peter[/p][p]You can find more details on #Steptember here - [/p][p]https://www.breakingstrain.co.uk/steptember/[/p]
