My story

[p]Rugby for Heroes is a charity close to my heart - it has led me on a new career path and allowed me to achieve a level 2 rugby coaching badge. If it wasn't for the opportunities offered by the charity I'd never have seen a Soft Tissue Therapist in action, after seeing this it inspired me to complete the course, get qualified, start a small business and start to grow it. [/p][p]That journey has only just started but I want more veterans to be able to have similar opportunities and that is why I am getting my backside on a bike to cycle from Arras to Brussels, as well as support other riders with soft tissue therapy during the ride and then get in the way of some really talented rugby players when we play our charity rugby match in Belgium.[/p][p]Please donate what you can to this great cause - every penny counts, there is a brief history below to set the scene:[/p][p]As the nation marks 75 years since the Allied forces landed on the beaches of Normandy in June 1944, a Rugby for Heroes team will be cycling in the tank tracks of the Welsh Guards who went on to liberate Brussels in September 1944. A fitting end to the challenge will see the team compete in a remembrance rugby match - a real test of their tired bodies after two days in the saddle![/p][p]In an "armoured dash unequalled for speed", the Welsh Guards made the 14 hour, 110km journey from Douai to Brussels where the city was at last liberated.[/p][p]The route from Arras to Brussels will take a 30-strong team of ex-professional rugby players, current and former service personnel and Rugby for Heroes supporters two days to complete by mountain bike.[/p][p]As the team arrives in Brussels, it will be straight to Dendermonde RFC for a Vets match to honour the fallen.[/p][p]Please support the team by donating whatever you can to make this a ride to remember.[/p][p]Thank you.[/p]
