My story

[p]Do you want me to complete an endurance event in a fancy dress costume of your choosing?[/p][p]Now that I have your attention, I'll explain why and what the rules are...I thought that it's about time for two things: most importantly to give something back to some fantastic charities, and of lesser importance, get fit! As such, I'm running the Great North Run on 8 September, but to mix things up, I'm also going to do my first duathlon at the Try On the Tyne event on 10 August and giving a mud run a bit of a go shortly afterwards on 5 October, taking both Kim and Errol (who is sharing the limelight in the profile photo) with me for the last event.[/p][p]I'm running the GNR for Walking With the Wounded, a great charity that's close to my heart as a member of the military, who offer assistance to those vulnerable veterans who have been physically, mentally or socially disadvantaged by their service and help them in maintaining their independence through new sustainable careers outside of the military. This includes providing support to homeless veterans and veterans in the Criminal Justice System, areas which are too often ignored. Here's a video with a few more details.[/p][p]I'll also be splitting donations with the Alzheimers Society, another charity close to my heart, but Errol has also insisted that some go to Battersea Dogs and Cats Home too, so he and I will be sharing the love.[/p][p]So now that I've covered the charities, back to the fancy dress. If you pledge the highest donation to these great causes, I will wear SOCIALLY ACCEPTABLE fancy dress (that fits) of your choosing for one of the events and you can even come and cheer me on! I look forward to some of the suggestions and dread some of the others...P.S. you provide the fancy dress so I'm not forced to buy some kind of gold leafed Elton John jacket or similar and remember, it's not a stag do!! [/p][p]Thanks for your support and I hope to see some of you out at one or more of the events![/p]
