My story

[p]*STOTTY'S MILES OF KINDNESS*[/p][p][br][/p][p]As we find ourselves in uncharted territory I feel it's important to go back to basics and adapt, improvise and overcome. Many industries are being hit hard by the impact of Covid-19 and they are all working hard to survive. Having worked closely with a number of charities over the years it has been tough to watch the effect this has had on them. [/p][p][br][/p][p]I want to make sure they are not forgotten so here's what I'm doing. 2 years ago I cycled 14,000 miles in 99 days, breaking 2 world records and raised £900k for mental health charities. In one month from today #mentalhealthweek will commence and this year the theme is #kindness [/p][p][br][/p][p]So over the next 30 days I want to break my own record and cycle 14,000 miles but I need your help. I will kick off and cycle 5 miles, I will donate £5 and tag 5 friends who will then each cycle 5, donate 5 and nominate 5. Here's the kicker though, if you cant do the 5 miles, I pledge to do it for you. If you can cycle and donate more then even better but one way or another we will get 14,000 miles and £14,000 in the bag by the start of mental health week 18th May 2020. [/p][p][br][/p][p]Sticking with the theme of kindness we will focus the campaign on 3 areas: [/p][p][br][/p][p]1: Anti-Bullying[/p][p]With most of us dependant on the internet for social contact at the moment it is more important than ever to keep people safe online. Online bullying is a huge problem and with our mental health being so fragile at the moment, online bullying can have devastating effects. [/p][p][br][/p][p]2: Domestic Violence[/p][p] Being home with the people you love is a special experience, however for far too many it's a terrifying one. Domestic violence has seen a dramatic rise is reported case over the past few weeks and it is set to get worse. The domestic violence helpline is under tremendous pressure and they need our help with donations and awareness. [/p][p][br][/p][p]3: Child neglect and abuse: [/p][p]Children's charities are expressing an increasing concern about children who are experiencing abuse and neglect due to impact of Coronavirus. In the last week Childline services conducted 363 counselling sessions where children had experienced physical, sexual, emotional abuse or neglect – up nearly a fifth on the previous week.[/p][p][br][/p][p]You don't have to wait to be tagged, feel free to get things moving yourself and cycle donate and tag [/p][p][br][/p][p]#milesofkindness #actsofkindness #mentalhealth #antibullying #domesticviolence #childline #childabuse #childneglect[/p][p][br][/p][p]Breaking Chains supports the most vulnerable people in our society and with your help l want to ensure the small charities continue to be be supported.
