My story

[lt]p style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"[gt]Hi my name is Debbie, thanks for taking the time to read my page.[/p] [lt]p style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"[gt][/p] [lt]p style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"[gt]In 2011 my Mum passed away after courageously fighting a variety of illnesses and whilst I still miss her like mad I am very proud of the way she fought right to the end.[/p] [lt]p style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"[gt]So I decided that in 2013 I wanted to do something to celebrate her life. Something that would challenge me, take me out of my comfort zone and make my Mum proud.[/p] [lt]p style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"[gt]Rather than invest everything into one event, it seemed fitting to undertake a different event for each decade of her life, so 8 in total.[/p] [lt]p style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"[gt]I've never been particularly sporty but decided a few years ago that I had better do something to keep fit so I took up running. It hasn't been an easy ride with almost a year out of action with a mysterious knee injury and now I seem to have got a frozen shoulder!!!![/p] [lt]p style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"[gt]One thing I have inherited from my Mum is determination, so despite these setbacks I will complete my challenge.[/p] [lt]p style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"[gt]So what am I going to do? Well so far I have set my sights on 5 events[/p] [lt]p style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"[gt][/p] [lt]p style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"[gt]A warm up with a fun night 10k off-road run[/p] [lt]p style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"[gt]Forest of Dean Half Marathon[/p] [lt]p style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"[gt]Belfast Marathon[/p] [lt]p style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"[gt]The marathon leg of the Outlaw Triathlon (with my husband completing the other 2 legs)[/p] [lt]p style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"[gt]The Adidas Thunder run, a 24 hour off-road relay endurance race completed as a team[/p] [lt]p style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"[gt][/p] [lt]p style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"[gt]As I've only just started running again after intensive physio on my shoulder the first few events are sure to be a struggle with the objective being just to finish. Later in the year we'll see what happens but I'm determined to go faster.[/p] [lt]p style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"[gt]What are the other three events going to be? At this stage I'm not sure but the idea of an ultra is really appealing.  Who knows I might be persuaded to enter something on two wheels.  I know if my husband has his way I will end up entering a triathlon![/p][lt]p style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"[gt]Whilst I am challenging myself physically this is also a golden opportunity to raise some money for charity.  So I have selected four charities that I would like to help, three are directly related to illnesses that afflicted my Mum whilst the fourth is such a great idea that it just deserves support.[/p][lt]p style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"[gt]I hope that you will consider making a donation, it doesn't matter how big or small, every little helps.[/p][lt]p style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"[gt]I promise that I will do my best to complete my challenges and keep you up to date with progress.[/p][lt]p style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"[gt]Best wishes[/p][lt]p style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"[gt][/p][lt]p style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"[gt]Debbie[/p] [lt]p style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"[gt][/p][p]Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor me and donations will be quickly processed and passed to charities. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this. I really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.[/p]
