My story

[p]I will be 80 years "young" in August 2019 and decided to celebrate with a Tandem Sky Dive. I was diagnosed with bladder cancer in 2001 and after radiotherapy treatment which was not fully successful my bladder and I parted company in 2006, two years after retirement. I was fitted with a stoma and first came into contact with the Urostomy Association. It is an independent charity with no regular income and relies solely on membership fees , fundraising and donations but gives invaluable support and encouragement to people who have undergone life-changing surgery. Apart from raising funds for the Association I want to publicise my activity to assure others who find themselves in a similar situation that having a stoma is not necessarily the end of an active and enjoyable life.
