DB Treasury's christmas breakfast fundraiser

[p]This year has been a challenging one, with working from home as the new norm, London's streets are a lonely place. Those sleeping rough will find Christmas this year particularly challenging. So as part of the people strategy giving back pillar, we have set up a Christmas fundraising collection across Treasury to help the homeless in London. [/p][p]Whitechapel Mission have been helping the homeless since 1876. They are a low cost, results-oriented organisation recognised as one of London’s most effective. And, with match funding, your donation is twice as effective. Our aim is to raise enough money to provide a hot breakfast for everyone at the Whitechapel homeless centre over Christmas. The cost of hot breakfast for everyone at the centre is £500, so with match funding and our target will provide two days worth of hot breakfasts. [/p][p][br][/p][p]Details below from Whitechapel’s Christmas mission, highlighting why this year will be a particularly challenging one… [/p][p]“As the Covid-19 pandemic has resulted in all communal night shelters having to remain closed, the number of Winter Night shelters is going to be severely reduced this winter. [/p][p]We are expecting to see a higher number of people sleeping on our streets this Christmas and winter.[/p][p]In addition we are awaiting news from national charities, regarding their annual Christmas services, but it is looking like the pandemic is going to severely reduce the services they can offer this year.
