Both charities are support groups for people with ileostomies and internal pouches.  The primary aim being to assist people who’ve had their colon removed to return to a full and active life.[/p][p]Emma McNally was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis   12 years ago. Due to the severity of her condition, her colon was removed in an emergency operation. It took 2 years of 24 hour care provided by her family for Emma to get back on her feet at which point, Emma decided to have an internal pouch created.[/p][p]10 years later she has never looked back.[/p][p]Having a colostomy bag and internal pouch is a difficult transition to deal with. “I am extremely lucky to have a great support network in my family, friends and employer. However, not everyone is so fortunate. I now lead a virtually normal life only attending hospital for checkups and the odd tweak here and there. I am very fortunate not all pouchies are as lucky as I am."[/p][p]"This year is the 10 year Anniversary of living with my pouch, hence why I wanted to give something back. People don’t talk about these conditions due to the embarrassment involved. Raising awareness can make a huge difference to so many people’s lives…"[/p][p]Please, please sponsor us to endure this challenge.
