My story

[p]Thank you for visiting our team's fundraising page for the 2019 London Legal sponsored walk.[/p][p]Our team so far is: Svetlana Kotova, Tracey Lazard, Robyn Taylor, Louise Whitfield, Isla Woodcock, Ahmed Ali, Matt Jackson, Sue Willman, Olivia Burgess, Kate Hodgson, Rebecca Bahar, Georgina Colegate-Stone, Elizabeth Prochaska, Karon Monaghan QC, Rebecca Hilsenrath, Alexis Bennett, Joanna Gregson, Joanna Owen, Keith Ashcroft, Clare Collier, Katie de Kauwe, Lauren Payne, Lorel Clafton, Kevin Caulfield[/p][p]We are walking with the Lord Chief Justice and thousands of lawyers who are raising funds for Law Centres and pro bono agencies in and around London. [/p][p]Our team is raising funds for the Disability Justice Project, a project run by Inclusion London. It supports London Deaf and Disabled People’s Organisations to use the law to help Deaf/Disabled people make our rights to independent living and access to goods and services a reality. We believe it is important to use the law to fight for our rights.[/p][p]All funds raised by our team will be passed to the Project to help with our anti discrimination work supporting Deaf and Disabled people to access their rights.[/p][p]The DJP team will be following our own route which is fully accessible. We will have our own marshals to direct you at key points on the route. The distance is about 2 miles and we think it will take about an hour at a leisurely pace. It mainly follows one of the longer established routes but with diversions to make it shorter and to ensure accessibility. We will meet outside the Law Society on Chancery Lane which has a lift for access (to the left as you face the building), and an accessible toilet on the ground floor, to the right of the entrance (once you’re inside), which DJP team members can use on the day. We will meet at 5.30 and will share out the DJP t-shirts to the first 20 team members to arrive! Our route can be seen online [url=https://www.google.com/maps/dir/The+Law+Society's+Hall,+Chancery+Lane,+London/Arundel+St,+London/51.5066221,-0.1234256/51.5056547,-0.1266274/51.5074078,-0.1272818/Waterstones/Royal+Courts+of+Justice,+Strand,+London/The+Law+Society's+Hall,+Chancery+Lane,+London/@51.5102331,-0.1287209,15z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m45!4m44!1m5!1m1!1s0x487604b4ab4c9f91:0x866baf8597fd82d0!2m2!1d-0.1119999!2d51.5147285!1m15!1m1!1s0x487604b456a519c5:0xe8905250ba9cdffd!2m2!1d-0.1143676!2d51.5125289!3m4!1m2!1d-0.1133201!2d51.5110415!3s0x487604b440b7534b:0xd02b38eeec57b75a!3m4!1m2!1d-0.1224774!2d51.5065619!3s0x487604c8dc000eed:0x40cfd04dd7d140e!1m0!1m0!1m0!1m5!1m1!1s0x487604ce51c787df:0x7fa3410b7f5e771a!2m2!1d-0.126895!2d51.507585!1m5!1m1!1s0x487604b4c032e385:0x17c354076330416c!2m2!1d-0.1132125!2d51.5136609!1m5!1m1!1s0x487604b4ab4c9f91:0x866baf8597fd82d0!2m2!1d-0.1119999!2d51.5147285!3e2?shorturl=1]here, or as a PDF here. If you think two miles might be too long for you, do join us partway round; we’ll be doing the route marked between about 5.45 and 6.45. All the toilets marked on the route are accessible with RADAR keys.[/p][p]Please support our walkers as generously as you are able[/p][p]Thank you[/p][p]Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor us and donations will be quickly processed and passed to charities. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this. We really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.[/p]

Good on you all for doing this! we need legal protection for people with disability; we get more discrimination and prejudice and when it goes to a legal case, there is little legal aid but disabled people lack money for legal action
