My story

[p]Rob Wainwright and Mark Beaumont will pedal from Murrayfield on Thursday 14th March for a 500 mile, 48 hour epic to Twickenham in order to hand over a match ball for the Calcutta Cup, and to raise as much as possible for MND research. We will be donating £1 for every mile we cycle, and would ask all cyclists joining us to do the same. 100% of money raised will go to the My Name'5 Doddie Foundation.[/p][p]We would love folk to join us on their bikes as we pedal south and maybe give us a wee draft! Particularly we plan a Grand Depart from Murrayfield on the afternoon of the 14th, and we would welcome all that can make it for those first 40 miles after seeing the Scottish team off South. This first leg will be leisurely and rather bizarrely heading to Stirling where Mark has a wee talk we are taking in at the MacRobert Centre. However, please realise that participation is at your own risk and with your own logistics - this is not a catered event, it is Mark and Rob on a very long ride! Given our tight schedule, after the first 40 miles the Pirate Code will I am afraid apply. We also guarantee that the quality of our chat will decline dramatically over the course of the 2 days, but we will endeavour to raise a grateful smile.[/p][p]For those who cannot make it in person, why not join the virtual Doddie 500 challenge. On the bike, walking the dog, in the gym, make those miles count. Load the trac4good app to take part.[/p][p]Route and Timings available at WWW.DODDIE500.COM[/p]

Here is hoping that the 1000 donation becomes a multiple of 5 times over when the ball of balls from the great Twickenham game is re auctioned during the next Lions tour of South Africa.
