My story

[p]Anyone who knows me well knows how much I LOVE my hair. If someone asked me to name one thing you love about your self my hair is my go-to answer. I’ve always loved my natural colour and I love having it long.[/p][p][br][/p][p]When I was 19 I had my first bout of alopecia areata and having my hair fall out for no apparent reason scared the life out of me at 19 I had no idea what was going on. When I found out what it was I was just so grateful not to have lost it all and it made me even more appreciative of it. [/p][p][br][/p][p]Most of my life my hair has been long, as in below shoulder length and for the last 5 years, it’s been super long. But I find myself struggling to manage it at its current length, seriously I can’t wash it properly or dry it without it feeling greasy straight away and 9 times out of 10 my hair is on top of my head in a bun. I LOVE it but without paying to get it washed and blow-dried once a week I’m not getting to enjoy it.[/p][p][br][/p][p]So I’ve decided to donate some of my hair The Little Princess Trust, they make wigs for children who have lost their hair through chemo. So you’ll see a theme here. All charities have taken a hit this year and I’ve raised money for Cancer Research UK and Macmillian before. Cancer affects now 1 in 3 people I think (don’t quote me I’ve not looked it up recently) it devasts families and I want to see an end to it. While we are waiting for the improvements in treatments and one day a cure Macmillian does a vital job that only a certain type of person can do, they are angels in my eyes so I wanted to support them too and of course, donating my hair is no good if the trust can’t cover the cost involved in producing their wigs. [/p][p][br][/p][p]So this is a 3-way fundraiser which I’m asking for you to support because even typing this makes me want to change my mind and keep my hair especially as I have just had my hair appointment and it’s looking it’s best. So please if you can even if it’s just a £1 and gift aid seeing the money come in for these three charities will remind me why it’s important I follow through because if I do a little girl will get to have hair, hair I certainly don’t take for granted myself but many people do. [/p][p][br][/p][p]What I do know is the fear of losing it all certainly made me realise how much it means to me to have it, how feminine it makes me feel and how much a part of me it really is. There are women out there who ROCK the no-hair look and I salute them but no little girl going through cancer should have to also deal with looking so different from her friends when it wasn’t her choice. [/p][p][br][/p][p]Please support if you can every 1p counts the cut happens on the 9th of Feb 2021 [/p][p][br][/p][p][br][/p]
