My story

[p]After a 2 year break and 2 years older, I am back in the London Marathon. I had to defer last year's entry because of a foot injury and so getting back into training, at 68, has not been easy. However, I am getting there and am confident that I will be ready for the 28th April. In 2017 I finished in under 4 hours but I think this time I will be happy with anything under 4 1/2 hours.[/p][p]So what has been the driving force in wanting to compete in this great marathon again? It's to raise funds for the Liberty Children's Home in India. It's a Home that "Gives children the opportunity to discover their potential, to dream big dreams about their future and give them the opportunity to shape their own lives". As a Trustee of the charity I am totally committed to the Home and it's children and I am always prepared to "go the extra mile" or 26.2, to raise funds to ensure that these children have a secure and healthy childhood with a hope for the future. All of the money that I raise will be used to improve the facilities at the Home, which, after 11 years, needs some refurbishment, with an emphasis on hygiene. Last year we upgraded the dining hall, kitchen and girl's washing area. This year we want to upgrade the boy's wash area and all of the washing and toilet cubicles - this may not seem a very exciting project, but one essential to maintain the health of the 52 children. [/p][p]As with all donations, all of your sponsorship amount will be used for the benefit of the children. All of the admin costs of the UK Charity are paid for by the Trustees and this will include reimbursement to the Charity of any charges, by VirginMoneyGiving, when you sponsor me.[/p]
