Team story

[p]We are a team of Airport Firefighters from Dundee Airport in Scotland who are raising funds to support a number of charities close to our hearts.[/p][p]On Saturday the 24th August, we will be climbing Ben Nevis, the highest mountain in the UK at over 4400 feet high.[/p][p]If that wasn't a hard enough challenge, the team will be wearing full firefighting protective clothing and wearing breathing apparatus during the climb.[/p][p]The team consisting of Gary Johnstone, Laura McKenzie, Cameron Marshall and Lyall Stephen will be raising funds for three worthwhile charities.[/p][p]International Fire & Rescue Association is a Scottish based charity that aims to assist the provision of an adequate emergency service in countries that have been affected by war, civil unrest or are too poor to provide a service themselves.[/p][p]The charity has assisted in 20 countries with the donation of 96 vehicles, 67 overseas training mission's, and sent 55 containers of equipment worldwide. (SC033401)[/p][p]MND Scotland is the leading Scottish charity providing care and support to people affected by Motor Neurone Disease, as well as funding research into finding a cure.[/p][p]The charity delivers a number of vital services for people affected by Motor Neurone Disease in Scotland, including: Grants, Counselling, Benefits Advice and Advocacy. They also invest millions of pounds into ground-breaking MND research in Scotland and across the UK.(SC217735)[/p][p]Ronald Mcdonald House Glasgow give parents a place to stay while their seriously ill child is in hospital. Children come from all over Scotland and further afield to receive treatment at the Royal Hospital for Children, Glasgow and other West of Scotland hospitals. Many need emergency treatment and can end up very far from home for weeks or months at a time. The charity help's keep families together by providing free, high quality accommodation, only a few minutes walk from the hospital. (SC023199)[/p]
