[p]The Coronavirus and Social Distancing measures have impacted so many people in so many ways; changing the way we work, shop, educate and the way that we exercise. Tuesday club nights are on hold, junior and tri training sessions are postponed and races cancelled or rescheduled. This change to society has also hit our charities with some of their major fundraising opportunities no longer available. [/p][p]Exercise is good for physical and mental health however and so although our methods for achieving our regular exercise have changed our will to do exercise is still there. [/p][p]This fundraising page is for Dursley Running Club members to show that they can still stay active, can find ways to get exercise and show that we care for others who are more in need. We are joining in the 2.6 challenge; run 2.6 miles, do 26 press ups, cycle 26 miles, hold a plank for 2.6 minutes... whatever it might be. [/p][p]Share your 2.6 activities, donate what you can and help us support our club charity Maggies and NHS charities in this challenging time. See below for the commitments so far:[/p][p][b]Caroline Jones, Leigh Allen, Julie Frothorn[/b] and [b]Alice Lewis[/b] have completed [b]26 exercise activities[/b] over two weeks: [/p][p] 1: run 2.6 miles[/p][p] 2: 26 hill reps [/p][p] 3: 26 squats[/p][p] 4: 26 crunches[/p][p] 5: 26 lunges (alternate legs)[/p][p] 6: hold a plank for 2mins 6s[/p][p] 7: V-hold for 2mins 6s [/p][p] 8: 26 calf raisers on a step[/p][p] 9: 26 burpees[/p][p] 10: 26 star jumps[/p][p] 11: cycle 26 miles (not in one day)[/p][p] 12: 26 Russian twists[/p][p] 13: 26 tricep dips[/p][p] 14: 26 press ups[/p][p] 15: 26 running upstairs (and back down)[/p][p] 16: 26 full sit ups[/p][p] 17: skip 26 jumps (with skipping rope)[/p][p] 18: tin hold (2x 400g tin cans held out at arms length) for 2mins 6s[/p][p] 19: 26 mins of Yoga/Pilates[/p][p] 20: 26 keepie-uppies (football)[/p][p] 21: 26 mountain climbers [/p][p] 22: 26 high knees; jog on the spot[/p][p] 23: stand on one leg knee high with eyes closed for 2mins 6s (do both legs)[/p][p] 24: hold a squat for 2mins 6s[/p][p] 25: 26 side to side jumps (speed bounce)[/p][p] 26: walk 2.6 miles[/p][p] [/p][p][b]Damian Lai [/b]has run [b]26 miles[/b] in his garden.[/p][p][b]Martin Bragg[/b] is cycling [b]26 different 330ft+ hills[/b].[/p][p][b]Andrew Oborne[/b] (aka Nic) completed [b]26 exercise challenges[/b].[/p][p][b]Steve Barnes[/b] completed [b]26 run upstairs, 26 reps [/b]of 6 strengthening exercises and [b]26k run[/b] over a weekend.[/p][p][b]David Durden[/b] completed a [b]52 (2x26) mile bike ride[/b] and a [b]2.6mile run[/b] over a weekend.[/p][p][b]Teresa Walton[/b] and [b]Annette Heylings[/b] completed a [b]26k bike ride[/b].[/p][p][b]Paul Gebbett[/b] completed [b]26 hill reps[/b] on Twinberrow Hill - over 2000ft elevation in 5 miles.[/p][p][b]Sarah Wilcox[/b] walked a [b]marathon[/b] (26 miles) in a week.[/p][p]Plus lots of people completing one or more 300ft+ hill climbs as part of Martin's challenge.[/p][p][br][/p][p][br][/p]
