Team story

[p]We are a group of 15 Lower Sixth students from Eltham College in south-east London, raising money to send to International Needs in Uganda. We were due to travel to Uganda this July to help the IN team, however we are now planning to go next year and in the meantime we are raising funds to help with emergency relief from the COVID-19 pandemic there. We are planning a number of exciting events such as...[/p][p]A virtual Three-Peaks Challenge (using the stairs in our houses)[/p][p]Running 10,000km as a school community (this is the distance to drive from London to Buikwe, which is the town we will be travelling to in Uganda) in the next few weeks[/p][p]Other activities such as quizzes and competitions[/p][p]Here is a bit more background about the work that International Needs does and how your money will help the project in Uganda...[/p][p]Around the world families are struggling with the threat of Coronavirus and the impact of lockdown. For families who rely on earning a bit of money each day to then buy their daily food, lockdown threatens families going hungry. International Needs are helping families in 7 partner countries (Kenya, Uganda, Ghana, Burkina Faso, Nepal, India and Egypt) to get basic food and medical supplies to get them through this time. [/p][p]In Uganda, the Water Project which Eltham College has been supporting is even more important in this time. More families now have clean water they can use to drink, wash their hands and clean their homes. But there is a lot more to be done and more people to help. We want to help International Needs provide handwashing facilities and training for several communities in Uganda.[/p][p]Please donate generously, money will go towards supporting families in rural Uganda in the forms of:[/p][p]Food packages for families[/p][p]Medical support for families [/p][p]Sanitation support in village communities[/p][p]Thank you for your support![/p][p]Here is a video that we put together detailing what we are doing during this time.[/p][p](below are some pictures from last year's trip)[/p]
