My story

[p]Thank you for making it this far! [/p][p]April 26th 2020 is going to be quite a milestone for me as I take part in the London Marathon for the first time along with 39,999 other people. [/p][p]How on earth have I ended up here? This is not a message I would have been sharing on January 1st 2018 when I tipped the scales at 115lbs higher than I do today. Running was the last thing on my mind when I first started shedding the pounds but it turns out that counting miles is way more interesting and inspiring than just counting calories and so over the past 18 months, an unlikely love of running developed and I reached a point where I felt I could take on this monumental challenge.[/p][p]With a gruelling training programme ahead, I’ll be busy clocking the miles this winter (which as a reminder for my international friends is not pleasurable in the UK!) and I want to ask for your support. I’d like to use this opportunity not only to challenge myself but also to raise money for two causes that are dear to me so anything you can spare to help me achieve my fundraising target would be massively appreciated. [/p][p]Any money I raise will be split equally between two charities:[/p][p]Ashford and St Peter's Hospitals' Charity: St Peter’s Hospital is my local hospital and my family and I have seen first-hand the great work their team of selfless volunteers does in the children’s unit to make life easier and more bearable for families when they’re going through the tough experience of having a poorly child in hospital. [/p][p]SpecialEffect: Special Effect is a remarkable charity in the games industry giving people with a huge range of disabilities the opportunity to play video games giving them self-esteem and independence. I’ve seen the work they do and it’s life changing for the people they help so I’d love to help them achieve even more.[/p][p]Thanks in advance for your support, it means a lot. I’d better get my running shoes on.[/p][p]Ed[/p]
