My story

[p]I still can’t quite believe this is happening, but in a fit of stupidity/blind optimism, I have signed up to run the London Marathon in April 2018. [/p][p]Unaccustomed as I am to any form of physical exercise, this is a pretty big deal for me (or for anyone for that matter). Not gonna lie, training is hard and there’s a long, long way to go. Any pennies that you could spare would be hugely appreciated, and will help to motivate and inspire me over the coming months. And will go to a very good cause.[/p][p]I’m running for a charity that is very dear to my heart, and of which I am a Trustee, The Book Trade Charity. [/p][p]The Book Trade Charity (BTBS), established 1837, is the book trade’s own welfare charity, offering help to anyone who has worked in the trade (employed, self-employed or freelance) in a range of roles across publishing, distribution and bookselling and who has a problem, whether personal, financial or health related. The Charity offers direct financial assistance to individuals in need through its Grants programme, giving over one hundred and sixty thousand pounds in 2016 and subsidised housing for some forty people at Kings Langley in Hertfordshire and thirty people at Whetstone in London. We have recently launched new initiatives to support young people entering the trade and undertaking internships. BTBS helps around 200 people a year, in circumstances which include disability, long-term illness, redundancy, debt including rent arrears, poverty, carer situations.[/p][p]Thank you for listening. And huge thanks in advance for your generosity.[/p][p]#prayforBurnsie[/p][p]#runlikeagirl[/p][p]#givemestrength[/p][p]Elise x[/p]
