My story

[p]Hey there everyone and thank you for visiting my page.[/p][p]Whoa what an amazing few months this has all been hey! My life has well and truly been turned upside down and I couldn’t be more grateful for the crazy fun experiences I have had over the course of this year. I really have been living my total best life out in the deep blue, at times totally terrified (and homesick!!) but always with a crazy big smile on my face! I thank my lucky stars for this opportunity, the amazing new people I have met and the incredible experiences I have had along the way… and it’s not even started yet![/p][p]For those of you that don’t know, back in October of last year I decided to apply to be a crew member on The Clipper Round the Word Race, completing Leg 4 (the Australian leg) of the 40,000 nautical mile ocean marathon. I will be spending 21 days at sea this December, (including Christmas day and New Year!) with my team ‘GotoBermuda’ and will be racing from Fremantle, down past Tasmania and then up to Airlie Beach. Already, I have completed four weeks of the most intense, enjoyable, funny, challenging, knackering and happiest few weeks of my whole life! It goes without saying there have been days onboard my 70ft new home that I have quite frankly hated! Tough would be an understatement. The complete emotional and physical challenge each day brings can be overwhelming to say the least… but the happy times on board shine brighter than you could ever imagine. My incredible Skipper, Wavy and AQP and total sweetheart, Fabs looking out for me every step of the way.[/p][p]In conjunction with my sailing, I would absolutely love to take this opportunity to support a charity that both my family and I have been proud supporters of for many years now. The Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust is a charity close to all of our hearts, fitting together perfectly (and rather spookily) with the theme of sailing too.[/p][p]The Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust is 'a charity that rebuilds young people’s confidence after cancer, using sailing to support, empower and inspire children between the ages of 8-24 in embracing their future with optimism.’ It takes young people out on sailing adventures; allowing them to grow their confidence, have fun, make friends and look out onto a brighter future. It costs £565 for one young person recovering from cancer to go on an unforgettable four-day sailing trip, I hope to raise as much money (with your help) as I possibly can so we can brighten as many futures as possible.[/p][p]Lastly, I’d like to say the biggest thank you to everyone - I truly do feel like the luckiest girl on this planet. I hope that when get out onto the water I will do you guys and my team mates proud, and obviously come back with all of my fingers and in one piece…!!!![/p][p]But for now its Aye Aye Captian from me, and big love to all of you for supporting this, [/p][p]Elle x[/p]
