My story

[p] On Sunday 22 April 2018 I will be running the London Marathon for the National Eczema Society, a fantastic charity which is very close to my heart. Since I’ve been old enough to stand I’ve been volunteering for the charity in various roles with everything from selling raffle tickets at a summer fete to picking Christmas card designs in Spring![/p][p] In the UK, one in five children and one in twelve adults have eczema and having grown up with the condition myself I know how hard and painful it can be not just on the individual but also friends and family around you. [/p][p] Imagine being itchy every day and having to cover yourself in sticky creams, which stick to your clothes, having open sores that sting when taking a bath or a shower and feeling embarrassed if anyone sees your eczema. These are just some of the everyday issues an eczema sufferer has to contend with.[/p][p] The National Eczema Society has two principal aims, first, to provide people with independent and practical advice about treating and managing eczema, secondly, to raise awareness of the needs of those with eczema with healthcare professionals, teachers and the government. [/p][p] While I've never run a marathon before, I have had an interest in running for many years. The furthest I've ever run previously is half-marathons but completing 26.2 has always been something I’ve wanted to do! My cockapoo has been delighted with the extra-long weekend runs (top training buddy!) and Monday night running club in Guildford has been useful for correcting bad habits on technique. [/p][p] The society’s exceptional work makes me want to raise as much awareness and money as possible for such deserving charity. Any donation will be greatly received and I’d just like to say a huge thank you for visiting my page and donating.[/p][p]Sweaty finish line photos to follow![/p][p]UPDATE - official finish line photo uploaded! I had a fantastic time and I'm smiling in every single photo!!! [/p]
