My story

[p]On the 27th of November 2016, my sister Rosie slipped away suddenly after a very short battle with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia (AML). She had only been diagnosed that very same morning. [/p][p]This is why as a family we have chosen CLIC Sargent as Rosie's memorial charity. CLIC Sargent provides support for young people and their families living with cancer. [/p][p]In order to raise awareness of CLIC Sargent, I wanted to do something in memory of Rosie that would be a big challenge and something I would have to work towards achieving. As I don't really enjoy running I decided the London Marathon would tick a lot of boxes. [/p][p]From tentatively trying to run a few miles round the block in June 2017 and having to stop several times before walking up the hill to our house, I've now got all the gear (and no idea) and I'm well in to my training plan of running the 5 miles home from the station twice per week in the dark (with laptop in tow), as well as trying to put in some more serious miles at the weekend. It is horrible!! You can check my progress on Strava https://strava.app.link/kphvbOXgXT I'm aiming to complete the 26.2 miles in 3.5 hours so I've got a lot of work to do![/p][p]Rosie was no stranger to raising awareness for various charities; including running the 'Race For Life' in September 2016, so I hope this will make her proud.[/p][p]Please donate anything you can, to help other families that have to suffer through such terrible illnesses, I'll be forever grateful. [/p]
