My story

[p]Hello and thanks for visiting! [/p][p]I just climbed Mount Everest! I summited on 21st May 2018 - just a week before the 65th anniversary of the first ascent. [/p][p]I've been working on an outreach programme in conjunction with the Institute of Physics (IOP) to help inspire the next generation of scientists, engineers and adventurers and several people backed a crowdfunding campaign to make YouTube videos - you can watch my video series on the Science of the Summit on the IOP YouTube channel.[/p][p]But I also want to raise money for two special charities - Edirisa UK and Community Action Nepal. Both these charities support education, health and sanitation in mountain regions. Edirisa UK works with communities in Southwest Uganda, in the foothills of the Virunga Mountains, and Community Action Nepal supports the people of the Himalaya. Edirisa UK was founded by my mother in 2005 and through her tireless efforts has improved the lives of thousands of people around Lake Bunyonyi. Community Action Nepal was founded by mountaineer Doug Scott and has had a similar impact in multiple regions of the Himalaya.[/p][p]Both charities are small and predominantly volunteer-run in the UK, so you can be sure that your donation is getting to the people who need it most.[/p][p]Everest is the ultimate challenge, regardless of your level. That’s why people go; and why they go back. That’s why it has the power to inspire so many. I hope my challenge inspires you to help me to support some of the poorest people in the world. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this. I really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.[/p]
