My story

[p]Hi, thanks for visiting my page.  I’m Evie, I’m 7 years old and I live in Bath.  I’ve been learning about the environment and the effect climate change is having on our planet.  It can be difficult to see those changes here, and to understand how it affects us.  But in some places climate change is having a real impact.  One of those places is the Arctic.[/p] [p][span=color: #33cccc;]Arctic sea ice reaches its minimum each September.  According to NASA, September Arctic sea ice is now declining at a rate of 13.3% per decade.  More ice is melting away during the summers and less new ice forming in the winters.  The minimum sea ice extent, along with global temperatures, are two vital signs that NASA monitor to track the changes to our planet and the impact of climate change.  While sea ice is declining, global temperatures are rising; and our planet is changing.[/span][/p] [p]So, over the next two months I’ll be taking on the really big challenge of cycling 133km (or a massive 89 times around my local bike track!) – that’s 10 km every for every percentage of sea ice decline – to highlight the critical rate of Arctic sea ice shrinkage.  I hope my little legs will pedal hard and I can complete this by 28 November![/p] [p]This year #GivingTuesday takes place on 28 November, it’s a worldwide day to encourage people to give back to good causes.  I am supporting a very cool charity called Wicked Weather Watch (WWW) which inspires young people like me to care about climate change. [/p] [p]WWW uses the personal stories of Arctic explorers to talk to kids about climate change.  It helps us understand what’s happening in the Arctic and how that links up with life here in the UK, what small steps we can all take to help slow climate change down and work together for our planet.[/p] [p][span=color: #33cccc;]Please think about our future.[/span][/p][p]Support me to raise awareness of climate change and the fast rate of Arctic sea ice decline; and support WWW in helping children like me learn the skills we need to fight our generation’s biggest global challenge – climate change.[/p] [p][span=color: #33cccc;]Thank you![/span][/p] [p]#FundYourFuture[/p][p]#DoGoodStuff[/p] [p]#GiveSomethingBack[/p]
