My story

[p]I am attempting to swim the Serpentine 2 mile and complete the 3 events that make the London Classics. I have already run the London Marathon and cycled the 100 mile Prudential Ride. I am raising money for Housing Justice. [/p][p]A year ago my friend Barbara died of cancer and I felt I wanted an enormous challenge because I was so affected by what she had been through and her untimely death. I hadn't intended to raise money but unexpectedly got a ballot place in the London Marathon and as places are sought over felt I should use the place to raise money for Cancer Research, leaving the possibility of raising money if I completed the other 2 events. I wasn't confident I could do them so kept quiet. After I competed the cycle ride someone wanted to sponsor me and I had to start a new online giving page. During the marathon and cycle ride I became aware that support for Cancer Research is massive and decided to choose a smaller charity for my new page. Barbara was a kind person and cared about people who were disadvantaged or suffering, she was always quick to sponsor me on the few occasions I have fund raised. I have chosen a charity that helps homeless people, we only see the tip of the iceberg of the housing crisis and it is difficult to know how to help. Housing Justice provides a variety of practical support and help for homeless people. [/p][p]I hope that all the timeI have spent in training will make some small difference to homeless people and support those who are trying to help them [/p][p][br][/p][p][br][/p]
