My story

[p]I was 14. I was already too strong, already damaged, but not sad, not at all. On sept 96, my dad committed suicide and left us behind : me, my sis’(12) and my bro’(10). And Mum. It was over and I knew it right away. We all knew it right away, because we’ve been threatened. This crap loomed over the entirely summer. No way out. **** happened.[/p][p]The tale behind is pretty grimy, with violence and alcohol. Nothing original but it hurts forever. We literally ran away in July. For the umpteenth time, a drunk man and father of three went back home. But that night was different. Not because it happened again, but because it felt like if punching was limitless. A fear feeling that even forced a 10 yo kid to protect his mum…I remember that poor wooden handle in his hands.[/p][p]Negotiations started to get us back home during the summer. Mum were in a blury situation, asked us, we’ve said no. Keeping mum safe was our responsibility. Then this man wound the rope .His responsibility.[/p][p]I encourage women to keep safe anytime. I know you feel overwhelmed but more important is to take care of yourself. It never get easier, you get stronger.[/p][p]As Koffi Annan said : “when it comes to violence against women and girls, there are no grounds for tolerance and no tolerable excuses” [/p][p]There are people to help them: Lighthouse Women’s Aid is a charitable organisation providing emotional support to women and their children experiencing domestic abuse in their personal or family relationships.[/p][p]Father of a newborn, a girl named Eve, I want her to grow up with a strong intolerance to all forms of violence against women and girls.[/p][p]On sept 21st, I will take part in a very demanding sport race, an Ironman triathlon, in Cervia, Italy. It requires an intense daily commitment, training 6 days a week. It is a lot of energy and making it lonely sounds like a waste of time. So that I want to share it for a worthwhile cause, and I need you J![/p][p][br][/p][p]£25.00 – Childcare session[/p][p]£34.00 – Bedding for a room at the refuge[/p][p]£38.00 – One to one support session to a traumatised child[/p][p]£40.00 – Crisis Pack for a family entering refuge with nothing[/p][p]£99.00 – One place on the Freedom Programme[/p][p]£136.00 – Woman and child family support programme[/p][p]£180.00 – 6 support sessions for women[/p][p] [/p][p][br][/p][p] [/p][p][br][/p][p] [/p][p][br][/p][p] [/p][p][br][/p][p] [/p][p][br][/p]
