My story

[p]On 2nd August this year I will be setting off for Cusco, Peru with Global Adventure Challenges, where I will be taking on the challenge of trekking the world famous Inca trail to the sacred ruins of Machu Picchu. The four day trek includes 3 mountain passes at altitudes of up to 4,200m, finally reaching Machu Picchu, one of the seven wonders of the world. This will be a monumental challenge for me, not just physically but mentally. I have never travelled alone and never really believed I would have the confidence to do so. During the challenge we will trek for up to 8 hours a day at high altitudes. Altitude sickness affects 50% of people at these heights, there is no way of knowing who will be affected and how badly. Facilities will be minimum, there will be no accesses to electricity, toilets or washing facilities, and no phone signal! [/p][p]I have chosen to raise money for Sea-Changers, a marine conservation charity funding projects throughout the UK. Sea -Changers are working to tackle the huge problem of plastic pollution in our oceans along with damage caused by overfishing, lack of protection and climate change. Recent documentaries have highlighted the issue of pollution within our oceans, something we need to act upon now! As well as making small changes ourselves such as reducing carrier bag usage, we can help by supporting projects that are acting to clean up our coastline and protect wildlife. [/p][p]I appreciate your support on this monumental challenge massively, anything you can give would be hugely appreciated. Every little helps so if you can spare a pound or two please, please do, and you will be a Sea-Changer too! [/p]
