My story

[p][br][/p][p]Sense is a national charity that supports people who are deafblind and those with complex disabilities, to be understood, connected and valued. They are there for every person who faces communication barriers in a world that relies on being able to see and hear well to be connected. Together, we can unlock barriers to communication so no one is isolated, left out or unable to fulfil their potential.[/p][p]Through Virgin Money Giving, you can make donations that will be quickly processed and passed to Sense. [/p][p]Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this.[/p][p]We really appreciate all your support and thank you for all your kind donations.[/p][p]Recycling is going amazingly Β£556.55 raised through recycling items that would otherwise end up in landfill. Thank you and please keep sending the listed items are way (see poster in pic for listed items) [/p][p]Cakes squares sold out in less than 24 hours totally overwhelmed once all money is in I will do the draw!! [/p][p]Lucky number 74 babranne won the chocolate cake but called another number as they are in Norfolk and just wanted to support such a fantastic cause. So Donna was the lucky cake winner. [/p][p]It's been a while since we updated the page. [/p][p]Christmas seems so long ago now and the marathon creeping ever closer. We had a lovely time at the flambards Christmas fayer and the parc eglos school Christmas celebrations boosting our fundraising total thank you to all who came along to support us. [/p][p]Mel and I have decided we will run the marathon separately this time, we will both still be fundraising together and thank everyone for their support. [/p][p]Recycling is going really well Β£839.15 raised through this fantastic programme. [/p][p]Please keep helping us we are truly grateful for your support 😊[/p][p]C19 has put a hold on training and many other things, but we are still doing as much as we can recycling and getting out when we can. [/p][p]April 26th 2020 Cycled 26.2 miles on what would of been marathon day and found a love for my bike 🚲[/p][p]Please help us raise vital funds now more than ever every little helps. [/p][p]With all the uncertainty of whether or not the marathon will go ahead this year I've taken on the virtual challenge of cycling the sense 100 [/p][p]You have 16 days to complete the 100 mile challenge from the 1st-16th August 2020🚴!!![/p][p]I've not been riding long and nothing over 26.2 miles BUT I'm hoping I can achieve the distance in as least days as possible 😱 between working and caring for my family. It will be no easy task especially with all the cornish Hill to contend with I will give it my all and hopefully succeed πŸš΄πŸš΅πŸš΅πŸš²πŸ™.[/p][p]Thank you for your support it's very much appreciated [/p][p]August 7th 2020 I embarked on an amazing 100 mile cycle ride around Cornwall. Started the day off cycling 31 miles with my friend Dee Benny we went to watch the sun rise at lizard point, only it was to foggy we could not see a thing. The fog horn sounded loud though!! After leaving helston I set off again for the next 69 miles of my journey it turned out to be a very hot day, but I kept on peddling enjoying the views and being grateful for all I have and the adventure in which I was travelling. when I came back into my home town I met up with family and we all completed the last 5 miles together such an amazing experience. [/p][p]In total across the 16 days from the 1st-16th August I completed 205.9 miles on my trusty bike. pretty awesome challenge. truly made up by all the support and encouragement Β£290.raised for sense [/p][p]So with just over a week to go until the iconic 40th london marathon. The first ever virtual event am I ready to take on the challenge??? [/p][p]The answer is NO πŸ˜” I've not ran very much at all since end of February beginning of March with my longest run being 10 miles. [/p][p]Emotionally this year has been extremely challenging for many, but one of the greatest things I've learnt is mind over matter. If you have a positive attitude you can achieve far greater than you can imagine. I will go out on the 4th with this in mind. although I do not feel physically ready to take on 26.2 miles, mentally I know that what I set out to achieve will benefit far more people than myself and the funds I raise along the way will help enrich the lives of people who are deaf/blind and face far greater struggles than the challenge set infront of me. [/p][p]Sunday 4th October 2020 virtual London marathon day. Started the day off waking up at 3am reading my cycling magazine and eating breakfast. 5am my friend Sean Viggers joined me to start my journey we enjoyed 18 miles of lovely cornish countryside and coast path. Was so good to be back out running after such along break. After heading back home at mile 18 to swap trail shoes for road I hit the wall. vickie Viggers joined me for the last 8 miles which turned out to be a mind over matter challenge. I'd not trained properly for a marathon as I've lost my love for running. I had to keep telling myself why I needed to complete my journey and to try stay positive when I really felt like quitting. The support on the day from Sean, Vicki and everyone was so very much appreciated. it really makes the challenge worth while 😊[/p][p]Feel extremely grateful to have been part of the first ever virtual London marathon and to be able to raise funds for such great charities. Working together we can all make a difference thank you from the bottom of my heart without all the support I really don't think I would of made it this time x [/p][p]December 2020 what a crazy year its been. christmas is nearly upon us and recycling is backing up as I'm busy with work at the moment planning a big catch up in January when I'll up date on the year's total. Thank you so much to all for your support its been a very difficult year for many [/p][p]Cannot believe its only 1 week until the London marathon and nearly 10 months since I last updated this page. [/p][p]It's been a totally awesome year filled with some great achievements. I came back to running to prove to myself that no matter what others think of you or the journey in which they are travelling you have to do what's right for you as an individual. [/p][p]I set myself 3 running challenges at the beginning of 2021. The southwest traverse in May which was a 46 mile coastal run from lizard point to lands end. A 64 mile coastal run from porthpean to St Anthony's head and back and now the London marathon. Running is a mind over matter challenge and if you set your mind to something you can achieve [/p][p]I've had amazing support from friends and family and I'm truly grateful thank you all so much I could not of raised such a fantastic amount for Sense without you 😍[/p][p][br][/p][p]O.M.G what can I say absolutely incredible experience. Running the London marathon is a truly heartwarming journey. Everything from start to finish is a truly epic adventure. We arrived in London late Friday all ready for a fun packed weekend. Saturday morning I made my way to the excel building to collect my bib and hand my kit bag over, met many runners on the train shared stories and tales. Got chatting to a lovely lady called shital it was going to be her first marathon, we stayed together, registered and enjoyed the exhibition before heading over the emmerits airline to the 02 where we met up with our families wished each other all the best and off we went. [/p][p]It was an incredible wet day in London but we did not let that dampen our spirits. Emma (my daughter) had missed out her school trip to London so we had the most of our time there visiting sights and enjoying the natural history museum. [/p][p]Sunday 3rd October 2021 race day what a totally awesome day! the crowds, the runners the electric atmosphere it's was all amazing. I went out faster than I'd planned, I wanted to a nice steady pace and to just absorb the whole experience, enjoy the day so at the half way point I slowed down took in the sights of the capital Read some of the reasons why people were running and had a blast. The marathon means many different things to each individual. For me this year was about helping others, raising funds for Sense and proving to myself if you believe in yourself you can achieve your goals no matter what is thrown at you. I've always had fantastic support from family and friends and it was overwhelming on the day to be greeted and suprised by my mum, brother, sister in law and 4 of my beautiful neices all who had made the journey to see me I was totally made up. [/p][p]The journey home on the train Sunday evening with my husband and daughter was long but was good to share marathon stories with others. I'm so incredibly proud to have ended my 2121 running journey on such a high. Massive thank you to all who have encouraged and supported me it really dose mean so much and I'm truly grateful [/p][p]If you have been inspired by my story take the bull by the horns and start your adventure now. If I can help in any way please ask[/p][p]πŸŽ‰πŸƒ?♀?πŸ“ΈπŸ»πŸŽ‰[/p]
