My story

[p]I'm biking for tigers next month in the heart of the Indian forests! Just over 110 miles biking - can I do it?! I'll certainly try!![/p][p]The Bike4Tigers challenge is attempting to raise £25K for conservation focused initiatives and projects that ensure tigers have a wild future in South Asia. If we save this iconic tiger, we not only save its remaining forests, we ensure millions of other species are saved too. Critically we help over 850 million people in India who depend on tiger forests for clean water, to help mitigate worrying climate change, and provide ongoing forest based livelihoods, foods and medicine to rural communities who depend on them.[/p][p]The money raised will allow our new UK charity, The Nature Stewardship Alliance, to continue to fund it many projects, research, rewilding and policy advocacy, its training programmes, it lodge eco-certification scheme and its Village Wildlife Guardian programme, which keeps villagers eyes and ears on the wildlife outside of parks - and much more. You can read more on www.toftigers.org .[/p][p]What will us bikers be up too?[/p][p]The Bike4Tigers Challenge, provides (participants) a chance to visit two of Central India's best tiger reserves, where tigers have rebounded in the last decade, and bicycle through rural areas and the bordering and corridor forests - three days adventurous off-road biking, covering a total of 180 kms (60kms per day), with participants getting real insight into the major issues and conflicts that face a rural populace with large predators and diminishing forests for them to live in and ever greater need for land for an increasing rural population.[/p]
