My story

[p]Thank you for visiting my fundraising page for Action for Children through running the Royal Parks Foundation Half Marathon on the14 October.[/p][p]Now I know that I assured you that when I ran the London Marathon in 2011 that I would never again be fundraising for a running event (especially as the last one hurt so much). So many of you gave and supported me so generously then and I and Action for Children were so grateful. I'm also aware that it's half the distance as last time, but let me assure you that it's proving twice as hard; a few years ago I had an operation during which I've since learned that my pelvis was misplaced. Not lost, just moved out of alignment which has caused lots of back and leg problems since and so any kind of training is proving a little challenging. [/p][p]Additionally and more importantly, government funding for services such as those provided by Action for Children has significantly decreased in the intervening seven years and so philanthropic donations are even more important to charities like ACF. It's a great charity which helps disadvantaged children across the UK, through fostering or adoption, and early intervention to stop neglect and abuse. Through more than 600 services, they improve the lives of more than 370,000 each year, inlcuding children with disabilities and young carers. [/p][p]It was a cause very close to my mum's heart and whilst I'm going to miss her cheering me on so very much, I know she'll be the wind at my back to get round. So if you can support this wonderful charity, please do, and I'll promise that if there is ever a next time, I'll at least run 100km, or be dressed as a dragon, or hula hoop all the way round. [/p][p]Thank you. x[/p]
