Team story

[lt]p style="margin: 0px 0px 6px; color: #1d2129; font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;"[gt]The crew of MY Gene Machine will be attempting to cycle "across" the Atlantic ocean from the Amels Shipyard in Vlissingen, Holland to the island of St. Maarten in the Dutch Caribbean. [lt]br /[gt](Via Gibraltar)[/p] [lt]p style="margin: 6px 0px; color: #1d2129; font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;"[gt]Our objective is to raise both money and awareness for The Heart Research Institute and Ducks & Drakes Cancer Trust. Both causes are closely linked to members of the crew who have lost friends and family through both cancer and heart disease.[/p] [lt]div class="text_exposed_show" style="display: inline; color: #1d2129; font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;"[gt] [lt]p style="margin: 0px 0px 6px;"[gt]The challenge we have set ourselves is to cycle the exact distance Motor yacht Gene machine will be covering on her trans Atlantic displacement voyage. As the crew we will riding a total of 4736 nautical miles or 8771 kilometres in 17 days. In order for this to be achieved the twelve man and woman crew of Gene Machine will be required to cycle an average of 516 km per day or 21.5 km per hour, 24 hours a day.[/p] [lt]p style="margin: 6px 0px;"[gt]We are collecting donations through Virgin Moneygiving, the total amount raised will be evenly divided between the Heart Research Institute and Duck & Drakes Cancer Trust.[/p] [lt]p style="margin: 6px 0px;"[gt]In a dream world we would love to raise 2 Pounds sterling per kilometre cycled[/p] [lt]/div[gt]
