My story

[p]I'm Nicky (aka Mummy Dragon) and definitely a tortoise when it comes to running. I am relying on perseverance rather than speed over the next year of running! My challenge is to run as many races as possible culminating in the London Marathon in 2020 - 10 years after I last ran it (there are a lot of anniversaries in 2020!!!) as long as I can get a place (hint, hint)! I have some wonderful friends who will be joining me at most of the races and at the moment I'm signed up for:[/p][p]Vitality 10k May 2019[/p][p]Weybridge 10k June 2019[/p][p]British 10k July 2019[/p][p]Disneyland Paris Run Disney weekend 5k, 10k and half marathon (21k) September 2019[/p][p]Winter 10k February 2020[/p][p]Just need places in the London Marathon (42k) please!! If I don't get it I will just have to set myself a virtual full marathon![/p][p]If I find any other races in the meantime I will try to increase the distance so keep watching...[/p][p]So please give me a reason to run - sponsor me or my friends, cheer me on and feel free to recommend good running tracks to get me through the horrible winter training.[/p][p]Why? (see more on georgesdragons)[/p][p]On 20th March 2010 our lives changed forever when our son, George was raced to hospital paralysed on the right hand side, unable to communicate with us. It hit for no reason overnight, and has turned his life (and ours) upside-down. Fast forward almost 10 years and we want to thank an amazing charity who have kept us going in the most difficult of times. Shooting Star Chase has provided respite for George and support for all of the family keeping us all calm and as sane as possible throughout the years.[/p][p]We have decided to run a year of fundraising, starting on St George’s Day 2019 and running up to the 10th anniversary on 20th March 2020. This will incorporate many events, challenges and fun, culminating in a grand gala of thanks - more to be announced nearer the date![/p]
