My story

[p]I am taking myself completely out of my comfort zone and am running the [b]2020 London Marathon[/b]! - (yes you did read that correctly!) The furthest I have ever run competitively is the school 5km fun run and I seem to remember walking part of that, so running a marathon will most definitely be a challenge. [/p][p]I have chosen to run for [url=https://www.mencap.org.uk][b]Mencap[/b][/url] because my younger sister [b]Jessica[/b] has special needs and has grown up facing much different challenges than I have during the last 20 years. Fortunately, she has had the support of an incredible family and brilliant schools to help her in life, and because of this, she is the [b]happiest[/b] and most [b]loving[/b] person I know.[/p][p]Sadly, there are a lot of people who aren’t as fortunate as Jess is. Right now, people with a learning disability face inequalities in every area of life with [b]almost 1 in 3 young people with a learning disability spending less than 1 hour outside their home on a typical Saturday. [/b][/p][p]They face barriers finding a job, accessing activities in their local community and receiving good quality healthcare. Mencap tackle these issues head on by providing support in a way that meets individual needs and encourages greater independence. [b]For me, it was a no brainer who I wanted to raise money for.[/b][/p][p]Please donate what you can for Mencap and I will try and get through the marathon without passing out!!![/p]
