My story

[p]”Bad news. You’re going to have to hit the pavements this winter ..........we’ve got you a London Marathon place!”[/p][p]These words were in an email I received from Walking With The Wounded and marked the start of what will undoubtedly be a huge challenge! [/p][p]I am 56; I train Gundogs; I go the gym; a few years ago I took part in a couple of Parkruns and ran two 10k races. But, I AM NOT A RUNNER! [/p][p]However, I love a challenge and having reached a bit of a middle aged crossroads this seems like the perfect new chapter! My daughter Sophie was a sprinter at school and my son Tom is a world class ultra runner. So hopefully there is something in my genetic makeup which will help me run![/p][p]Walking WithThe Wounded is a fantastic charity, helping veterans get back on their feet - the work the charity does and the men and women they help are truly inspirational. Last summer I was part of Team GundogGirls and we undertook the Cumbrian Challenge raising money for WWTW. Now it’s time for me to really push myself and run 26.2 miles on 28th April 2019 in the iconic LONDON MARATHON! I would love your support, especially financially!! My target is £5,600 - that’s one hundred pounds for each year of my life and I know every penny I raise will be used to help physically and mentally wounded veterans.[/p][p]I am training as hard as I can and if you can support me by making a donation, small or large, that would be wonderful. I know it will be tough. I know it will hurt. But I am up for the challenge and I can promise you that, whatever it takes, I will be crossing the finish line in London.[/p][p]THANK YOU SO MUCH ❤.[/p][p]Gilly xxx[/p][p][br][/p]
