[p]*UPDATE* An unbelievable effort from the teams has seen us reach 680 miles after week 1! We are therefore DOUBLING the distance we are aiming for. Here's to 2400 miles![/p][p]***[/p][p]*UPDATE 2 - 24 Jan*. That's it! Such an incredible effort from the team has taken us over the 2400 mile mark! But we won't stop now, and promise to keep pushing for the biggest total possible. 3000 anyone??[/p][p]***[/p][p]Following our heavy-hearted closures, we have decided to spend January running and walking as far as we can to raise money for two fantastic charities. Staff from The Angel Bury St. Edmunds, The Salthouse Ipswich, and Southwold Pier have come together to virtually travel the length of the country.[/p][p]Why 1200 miles? There is a well-trodden walking route between Lands End and John O Groats (the UK’s extreme southern and northern points) that covers approximately 1200 miles. So many guests have had to cancel their own travel plans to us recently, so this is for them.[/p][p]All money raised will be split between two charities. The first is Hospitality Action, a charity offering vital assistance to those who work, or have worked in the hospitality industry. From physical illness or mental health issues to financial difficulty, family problems to addiction - Hospitality Action helps those who are struggling to get back on their feet. The second is Survivors in Transition, an Ipswich-based charity helping survivors of childhood sexual abuse, and well-known to us due to their location next to The Salthouse.[/p][p]This is not a challenge about how fast anyone can run or how fit they are. It is about three teams coming together at a rough time, putting huge effort into clocking up the miles, staying mentally strong and supporting some great charities close to our hearts.[/p][p]We are so grateful for any support.[/p][p][br][/p]
