My story

[p]The Christian Blandford Fund raises money for St George's Hospital,Tooting. The fund was set up after my godson Christian Blandford had been through cancer twice. He was diagnosed with a clear cell sarcoma of the kidney, a rare and aggressive form of childhood cancer, in January 2005 when he was just 18 months old. After a grueling year of treatment he was given the all clear but unfortunately relapsed in November 2006 when the cancer spread to a bone in his leg.[/p][p]His second round of surgery, chemo and radiotherapy in 2007 was even more intensive and demanding than the first, but thankfully Christian has been out of remission since September 2012.[/p][p]Since the fund was set up by Christian's wonderful parents, Peter and Claudia, they have organised a number of amazing events and raised a significant amount of money along the way. However this is their most important event yet, as the children's wards at St George's require renovation works and upgrading. These works have been outstanding for some time but have finally been given the green light but require significant funds to do so. The aim of the triathlon is to raise £100,000.[/p][p]The triathlon will be in the Lake District on the 18th-20th May 2018 and will entail a 2 mile open water canoe, an 8 mile bike ride, a 7 mile trek up Haystacks followed by another 13 mile bike ride cycling through some of the most beautiful parts of the Lake District.[/p][p]It would mean a great deal to the family and myself if you could support this wonderful charity and make a donation.[/p][p]Many thanks,[/p][p]Graham[/p]
