My story

[p]The Great North Run. This may be one of the worst decisions of my life. It was while I was attending the Mass Lobby for Climate, Nature and People in London. I was fired up with enthusiasm for action on the environment and the need to do something for nature’s recovery. I was asked to make a decision quickly, and in a rash moment, I agreed to enter this, the largest and most famous half marathon.[/p][p]I’m 65 years old and I have never run 13 miles in my life! But the cause is important to me and I’m going to give it a go.[/p][p]I am a trustee of Northumberland Wildlife Trust and a vice chair. The Trust is a great organisation with dedicated and enthusiastic staff doing vital work for nature in the north east. It deserves wide support.[/p][p]Nature is under threat as never before from human impacts on the environment through climate change, housing and industrial development, pollution and intensive agriculture and fishing. There is now an urgent need for fundamental change not just to conserve what we have left, but to give wildlife the chance to recover and restore the richness of the environment.[/p][p]I am running for a wilder future. I do hope you will support me. Thank you in anticipation of your generous donation towards nature’s recovery.[/p]

One stride at a time, Graham, and you'll get there. Once you are at 7 miles you are more than halfway. All the best.
