OP FRANKTON Virtual Challenge 2019

[p]This isn’t a challenge for the faint-hearted! [b]OP FRANKTON[/b] was a daring commando raid on ships in the **** German-occupied French port of Bordeaux in southwest France during the Second World War. The raid was carried out by a small unit of Royal Marines known as the Royal Marines Boom Patrol Detachment. [/p][p]The Commandos covered an incredible distance of [b]176 miles over 11 days[/b]; 76 miles in two-man Kayaks and 100 miles on foot whilst escaping. Only two teams made it to the objective and only Major Hasler and Marine Spark returned from the mission. [/p][p]To Honour this, Virtual Military Challenges has created a virtual OP FRANKTON Challenge to raise funds for the Royal Marines Charity and the Special Boat Service Charity.[/p][p]Completing the distance is not the objective, taking part, pushing yourself and raising funds is. We have set a suggested donation of £20 per team.[/p][p][br][/p][p]Taking part is simple;[/p][p]The challenge starts on the [b]7th December 2019[/b] and finishes on the [b]18th December 2019[/b].[/p][p]The challenge has two phases:[/p][p][b]Phase One[/b] – Insertion. 7th Dec – 11th Dec.[/p][p]- In pairs row as much of your targeted distance as you can within the time frame.[/p][p][b]Phase Two[/b] – Extraction. 12th Dec – 18th Dec.[/p][p]- In pairs run as much of your targeted distance as you can within the time frame.
