My story

[p]In June of 2019 we partnered with i-Afrikayama a vegetable gardening project founded by Mawande in2017. The purpose of this project is to supply fresh vegetables to the local communities of Strand and inspire youth to participate in vegetable farming. Where the entire community would get involved and benefit from its produce. We have been supporting this wonderful project by helping to prepare the ground, planting some seedlings donated by GVI during Nelson Mandela day, Women’s day and several other community day visits last year.[/p][p]The main objective of the community garden is to provide fresh food to the people who take daily medication that requires a prior meal in order for it to work effectively and also to generally people who do not have food at all. Part of the garden produce is sold to local schools so as to sustain the project. While in the future the garden will be used to teach students from grade 7 and grade 12 some valuable agricultural skills.[/p][p]All of our projects and programs are designed to leave a positive and long-lasting impact on the community and to increase the health, self-sufficiency and well-being off community members with less resources available. In order to do this, GVI follows the UN’s sustainable development goals for quality education, gender equality, sustainable communities, and reduced inequality. We consider sustainable communities an essential piece of all our projects. [/p][p]We would like to raise funds for: [/p][p]Seedlings[/p][p]Garden equipment[/p][p]Protective sheeting and fencing[/p][p]It is with your continued support that we can make a sustainable and long-lasting impact in the community. We are grateful for your generosity and it goes without saying that the GVI trust and all its donors, play a vital and essential role in making a lasting difference to the lives of many people within the community. [/p][p]Every little goes a long way.[/p][p]Thank you, on behalf of every single life you have impacted, no matter how big or small.[/p][p]Enkosi![/p]
