My story

[p]On the 22nd of April, I will be pulling on my running shoes in honour of Liberty Schurer. I met Liberty last Spring when I was at Dr Challoner's High School as part of my teacher training. Liberty had recently been diagnosed Ewing’s Sarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer, and even though she had already been through several months of gruelling treatment, she struck me as such a vibrant and animated young person. Throughout her treatments she kept battling on and never gave up, but sadly, after a whole year of gruelling chemotherapy, Liberty passed away on the 11th October 2017. [/p][p]So in her memory, I am raising money for the Bone Cancer Research Trust, who raise funds for much needed research into bone cancer and Ewing’s Sarcoma. Every year, less than 30 children in the UK are diagnosed with this rare type of bone cancer, and it was Liberty's wish that we keep doing everything we can to raise the funds to prevent children like her from suffering.[/p][p]The funds raised for Liberty's Legacy by her family and friends are already having a direct impact with the BCRT funding a research project specifically on Ewing's Sarcoma. For more information on Liberty's story and the fund raising activities that her family and friends have been doing, please have a look at the Liberty's Legacy charity facebook page - https://www.facebook.com/libertyslegacycharity/ [/p][p]or for more information about the Bone Cancer Research Trust please visit their website:[/p][p]https://www.bcrt.org.uk/[/p]
