Team story

[p]The National Centre for Human Retrovirology is the only centre in Europe dedicated to the management of people with HTLV-1 infection. It is based at St Mary’s Hospital, Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust in London. HTLV-1 is a rare infection which may lead to significant disability and disease. We estimate there are approximately 22,000 people infected with HTLV-1 in the United Kingdom. We are raising funds for our patients, with the aim of using the funds to increase the profile of HTLV nationally and to provide therapies not readily available on the NHS.[/p][p][span=text-decoration: underline;]The Race[/span][/p][p]Click here to see what we are letting ourselves in for....trust me.....it will be painful !![/p][p][span=color: #0000ff;]https://www.britmilfit.com/major-series/gallery/[/span][/p][p][span=text-decoration: underline;]Team Running Blog[/span][/p][p][span=color: #ff0000;]Aug 2015[/span][/p][p]How we are training:[/p][p]Amy and Martin - Planning on starting training by doing a lot of running around where I live (Islington). Come September time, will start running more in the forests and fields around Esher in Surrey in order to get used to running in slippery mud![/p][p]Amy: I do a lot of yoga which helps keep my core and upper body strong, but I will also start going rock climbing to help my upper body get stronger. I used to do this a lot, but stopped recently. I think this will be helpful for tackling some of the obstacles. [/p][p]Claire - Hoping that the training I put in for a half marathon last October and occasional gym visits will get me through this...![/p][p]Divya - Still nursing a healing torn calf muscle caused by excessive interval training ( now discontinued), but have begun to run outdoors on the (flat parts) of the Malvern hills, even in the rain![/p][p]Graham - Running up the peaks of Snowdonia – as a warm up…[/p][p]Jana - 3 times a week gym sessions, cross trainer, treadmill, weights.[/p][p]Jocelyn - Running alongside the Thames.[/p][p]Kaushik - Rugby, running, weights, all the usual .[/p][p]Maria - Will go to the British Military Fitness session.[/p][p]Yasmin - What training….?[/p][p][/p]
