In December 2017, we will be attempting to row the Atlantic as part of the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge, the world's toughest rowing race. It's a journey of around 3000 miles and takes around 9 weeks to complete.  With storms, adverse weather conditions, hunger and sleep deprivation, we will face the challenge of our lives. Boats are seven meters long and just under two metres wide, with only a small cabin for protection against storms. All boats are equipped at the race start, and cannot take any repair, help or food and water during the crossing. There is a constant battle of sleep deprivation, salt sores and the physical extremes that the row will inflict. From the start, the four of us knew that the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge had to be about much more than just personal achievement. We wanted to raise money for charity and, given our own experiences with mental health, quickly agreed that Mind was one of the charities we wanted to support. This is such an important charity and it deserves it's place here as the row is across the Atlantic...where so many species live who are endangered by the pollutants we create. The row will not add to the damage but the raised money can help heal.
