My story

[p]Hi, thanks for visiting my page. [/p][p]I've been to Africa :) I've seen first hand the amazing work being delivered by projects supported by GAGA UK! [/p][p]March was the most amazing month and I'm so excited to share with you everything I've seen and where your donations are being spent - keep up to date on my Facebook Page https://www.facebook.com/HanaSmiddySouthAfrica2018/ [/p][p]Why I Decided to go ; [/p][p]I met Sarah from GAGA UK about a year ago and got to chatting about what her charity does in Africa and the kind of projects they support. I was surprised to hear just how many projects they work with: First Step Right School a primary school for children aged 18 months to 9 years; The White House a residential home for the elderly, 1000 Hills Community Helpers a clinic to support surrounding rural communities with family planning and support for new mother; Hillcrest Aids Centre; HOLAH (House of Love and Hope) a sanctuary for abandoned, orphaned babies; LETCEE a training centre for preschool teacher training. [/p][p]First Step Right School;[/p][p]School attendance rates in South Africa are generally good.[/p][p]The quality of education provided however, can vary greatly and that’s why GAGA UK support First Step Right school. They want as many children as possible to have a great start in life. This is a Low Primary School in rural KZN. They have 150 pupils from pre-school (aged 18 months), up to grade 5 (aged 9).[/p][p]They do not, as yet, have government funding and GAGA UK are their primary funders. The successes of the school include the child to teacher ratio, which is fantastic (particularly in comparison to nearby government schools); the behaviour and manner of the children who are bright and have a number of experiences and opportunities other children would miss out on; the lack of bullying at the school and their community spirit. They face a number of challenges, not least the lack of electricity and risk of crime and theft in the area. You can read lots of good news stories from the school here:[/p][p]http://www.gaga-uk.org/component/project/?view=project&layout=news&project_id=18[/p][p]I plan to continue to support GAGA UK for the whole of 2018 raising money and awareness of the fantastic work and huge impact they have on Children in rural South Africa. [/p][p]Thank you for your help and support[/p][p]Hana xx[/p][p]Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor me and donations will be quickly processed and passed to charities. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this. I really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.[/p]
