My story

[p]On the 27th December 2017, my Dad, Thomas Layford, suffered a fatal cardiac arrest. A retired detective, devoted husband and proud family man, he was only 54 years old. [/p][p]In the months following his death, as a family, we decided that we wanted to do all that we could to help raise money for the British Heart Foundation to support their life-saving research and help to prevent more people like my Dad from dying prematurely as a result of Coronary Heart Disease. Every day, in the UK alone, 435 people lose their lives to Cardiovascular Disease, and of that figure more than 110 of those deaths will be people under the age of 75. [/p][p]So in honour of his memory and to support this incredible cause, Mihai and I are taking on the ultimate challenge: to climb Kilimanjaro! At 5,895m it's Africa's highest mountain (and a pretty scary perspective) but we're really excited to take on the challenge.[/p][p]With your support, we hope to achieve this amazing feat and help the British Heart Foundation continue with their ground-breaking work so that more people can be saved.[/p][p][br][/p]

Hi Hannah, I knew your dad in the police, and also worked with him at Safecall. Top, top guy. We still talk about him an awful lot, which is really how you gauge how someone is thought of, I suppose. People do live on in your memories. Well done.
