My story

[p]Welcome to our Just Giving page, thank you for helping us towards our target of raising £2000 for JDRF.[/p][p]Hannah's younger brother Sam was diagnosed with diabetes when he was five, she was 11 at the time. She has watched him grow up with the challenges of living with diabetes and we are both so proud that he is now at university, studying a sports science degree, playing rugby and leading an independent life like all his friends. He has only got there however from the constant support from his parents and diabetic team and it has not always been a comfy journey.[/p][p]We believe that diabetes as a disease is sometimes disregarded. Children’s perception is that their friends are allowed snacks in class and teachers sometimes feel ones diabetes needs are an “excuse to get out of class”. However the reality of living with diabetes is very complex and is often not understood properly even by adults.[/p][p]We believe that diabetes needs more awareness and believe we can help in doing our bit by not only raising money, but by lifting the profile of diabetes by taking on a challenge which people will be interested in.[/p][p][lt]span class="userContent"[gt]We have decided to take on the RideLondon together, in support of JDRF UK. Please help us reach our target of £2000 for this fantastic and very worthwhile charity, every penny counts. 400,000 people in the UK are affected by Type 1 Diabetes and 26,000 of them are under 18![lt]/span[gt][/p]
