[p]Hi, Thanks for visiting my page[/p] [p]In August I will be traveling to Gisenyi, Rwanda to work alongside Music Therapist, Stephanie Jayne to deliver a 6 week skill-sharing project. We will be sharing skills with social workers, care staff and teachers working at Noel de Nyundo, Rwanda’s largest institution home to 520 children and at the Ubumwe Community Centre, a day centre for children and adults with disabilities.[/p] [p]Music as Therapy International is a UK registered charity which devises and delivers innovative, high-impact music therapy projects around the world. Their skill-sharing projects provide local workers with the skills, resources, experience and confidence to run therapeutic music programmes with the disadvantaged children in their care.[/p] [p]Click here to find out more about Music as Therapy International and the work they do in Rwanda.[/p] [p]We will be flying to Kigali and then traveling 93 miles to reach Gisenyi, a small town in North West Rwanda on the border with the Democratic Republic of Congo.[/p] [p]MY FUNDRAISING CHALLENGE – To run the 93 miles it will take for us to get to our destination in Rwanda whilst I am in England. I am going to do this over the space of 4 weeks starting on June 9[sup]th[/sup]. Until this year I had NEVER ran before so this really will be a challenge for me![/p] [p]I am going to be keeping a running blog so you can stay up to date with my progress and find out more about the work we will be doing in Rwanda across the coming weeks.
