My story

[p]In April I’m running the London Marathon (a life-long dream) to raise money for a charity dedicated to helping to change the lives of people with dyslexia, the Helen Arkell charity. The charity puts dyslexia first, unlocking the potential in children and adults to achieve greatness.[/p][p]This small but mighty charity receives no government funding and rely on the generosity of the public to be able to provide expert services to those people who need it most. This means every penny I raise will go towards crucial financial help for those in need of services at the heart of this charity.[/p][p]Why did I choose this charity?[/p][p]First off, I’m dyslexic and for many years I have been very embarrassed to admit it but now I’m proud of it. It makes me unique and we should celebrate our differences - that’s what makes people special. I was lucky enough to have an amazing tutor and inspiration, Sue Smith and my mum who helped me to learn in a way that I understood and always believed in me.[/p][p]Now I won’t be winning a spelling bee anytime soon and the board game Articulate is my worst nightmare but I excel in other areas. I’m creative and because of the challenges I faced at school, I’m extremely hardworking and will always go the extra mile. This is why I want to support Helen Arkell charity: they enable children and adults alike to believe in themselves, achieve in education and beyond, and to succeed on their own terms.[/p][p]· They identify and assess dyslexia at all ages[/p][p]· They train dedicated professionals to inspire people to love learning[/p][p]· They provide solutions, and create success above all, the work they do at Helen Arkell unlocks potential.[/p][p]I’m already well into my training program and have run 60km since getting my place at the end of November, please help me smash my target! [/p][p]Thank you for reading :)[/p][p]Hannah[/p]
