My story

[p]Having signed up in October 2019 and trained to run the April 2020 London marathon, sadly like most events, it was cancelled twice… [/p][p]All being well on the 3rd of October, I will finally run the London marathon. [/p][p]This has been a massive challenge but one I've wanted to take on for a while. Seeing a friend run a few years back I was blown away by the atmosphere- it was London at its best. I'm also hoping I can do better than I did aged 13 in the Milton Abbey school run- when I came last.[/p][p]So If I'm going to run 26.2 miles, I am definitely going to do it for a worthwhile cause, or two. Please help me raise funds for these two incredibly deserving charities- all money raised will be split between them.[/p][p][br][/p][p]Cure Parkinson's Trust[/p][p] Every hour, someone in the UK is told they have Parkinson’s. In 2017 my father-in-law was told he has the disease. An especially cruel diagnosis for an eminently funny and eloquent man who recently retired at the top of his career. A difficult diagnosis for anyone- it is a progressive neurological condition which is currently incurable.[/p][p]It is estimated that 1 person in 37 will receive a diagnosis of Parkinson’s during their lifetime.[/p][p]The Cure Parkinson's Trust is a leading Parkinson's medical research charity totally committed to slowing, halting and reversing the condition and ultimately improving the lives of those affected by the disease.[/p][p]Atlantic Salmon Trust[/p][p][br][/p][p]As most of you may know I am fanatical Salmon fisherman, an avid promoter of 'catch and release' and river conservation.[/p][p]In the 1970's the global population of Atlantic Salmon was approximately 10 million fish, today it stands at less than 3.4 million. A horrifying statistic that requires urgent action.[/p][p]The Atlantic Salmon Trust devotes itself to the protection of one single species – the Atlantic Salmon. Alarmingly the numbers of Salmon in our rivers are at an all time low, never has the work of the AST been more crucial. The AST are working tirelessly to find out where the mortality of Smolts ( baby Salmon) is happening and to stop the decline of this iconic species. The thought of every pound going to these incredible charities will help through my training![/p][p]Yours gratefully[/p][p]Harry[/p]
