[p]UPDATE 3rd October 2020 - COVID19 has put a stop to the event so I have deferred my running spot to October 2021. However, I will be taking part in tomorrow's virtual event by walking 26.2 miles of the Icknield way. Thank you for your support.....[/p][p]On new year's eve 2014, I heard the three words that changed my life....... "you have cancer"[/p][p]Although it initially propelled me into a pit of despair, it has changed my life in so many ways. I've met some incredible people, modelled underwear in my steroid-filled body, learned some invaluable lessons about what's really important and have taken up running. Since the day of diagnosis I have dreamt about running the London Marathon and, as my tenth consecutive clear scan provides a glimmer of hope with a "remission" promise, now feels like the perfect time. [/p][p]I'm not pretending that it's going to be easy; I've had six operations, 40 rounds of radiotherapy, bone-strengthening infusions and six months of chemotherapy. Breast cancer chemotherapy is derived from mustard gas and it's had a pretty brutal effect on my body which culminated in a fractured pelvis while I attempted to train for a half marathon last year. Fear not, I will not make the same mistakes![/p][p]I am determined to follow a strict training plan and make it over the finish line in April 2020 to raise vital funds for Breast Cancer Now so that they can continue with their ground-breaking research which is already saving thousands of lives. I don't want my daughter to ever face this wretched disease, your donation could really help. Please give what you can and follow my blog (it's ramblings from the start of my breast cancer journey and hopefully will give you an idea of why this means so much).[/p][p]Thank you #fightlikeagirl[/p][vmgvideo class="ql-video" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen="true" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/tvpp0RCzU6I?showinfo=0&rel=0&iv_load_policy=3"][/vmgvideo][p][br][/p]
