My story

[p]**UPDATE**[/p][p]A huge thank you to you all for your generous donations. 💕👏🏼[/p][p]We successfully managed to complete the challenge (photos below). Alisha cycled 26.2 miles in London and Flo and I cycled over 26.2 miles along the tranquil Basingstoke Canal.[/p][p]We are overwhelmed that we have exceeded our original target by nearly 100%! This will help to support children and adults with dyslexia during the lockdown.[/p][p]———[/p][p]The Covid-19 pandemic has had a catastrophic effect with the cancellation of thousands of events and the loss of billions in income through fundraising events.[/p][p]The Virgin Money London Marathon alone, which should have taken place today, on Sunday 26 April, is the world’s biggest one-day fundraising event, which raised more than £66.4 million for thousands of charities in 2019. As a family we have been part of the team working on the finish line for many years.[/p][p]Many of these charities have had to reduce or stop services at a time when vulnerable members of society need them most; thousands of staff have been placed on furlough and many charities will not survive the next few months.[/p][p]A charity dear to my heart is the Helen Arkell Dyslexia Charity in Frensham, where I completed my training as a specialist dyslexia teacher. [/p][p]These words from Andy Cook, the CEO of HADC , sum it up, “There's no denying we've been hit hard by the current crisis. We are facing a significant loss in income but at the same time we are determined to continue to support children and adults with dyslexia who need our help more than ever”.[/p][p]On Sunday 26th April my daughters and I will be completing 26.2 miles between the three of us by cycling and running. Please consider making a small donation to the Helen Arkell Dyslexia Charity if you can.[/p][p]Thank you for your support.[/p][p] [/p]
