You can make a difference! #HelpTheHive[/p][vmgvideo class="ql-video" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen="true" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/xc_K7nlP90w?showinfo=0&rel=0&iv_load_policy=3"][/vmgvideo][p][br][/p][p]In honour of International Women's Day #IWD2021 we are celebrating and supporting THE HIVE, the women's empowerment project in Mwanza, Tanzania. We love these women and will be celebrating them with you this month! And through Emmanuel International, we are seeking to raise money to enable Aikande to continue her amazing work supporting vulnerable women as she oversees managing of The Hive for another year! And also to support Bhatendi in her incredible work training and encouraging beekeepers in rural villages across the region in beekeeping and honey processing skills.[/p][p]WHAT IS THE HIVE?[/p][p]The Hive is a women-led Honey Centre and Shop in Mwanza. It was set up through generous support from Under the Same Sun and is run by the Upendo wa Mama women's albinism group. It is a place in the community where these women, who because of a genetic skin condition (albinism) have been rejected, disadvantaged and stigmatized and had to rescue their children from attack, can now confidently stand with their heads held high, receive training and support and also generate income in order to provide for their children. The Hive is also a central place where trained beekeepers can bring their raw, harvested honeycomb from surrounding villages to process and sell. Their beeswax is bought by the Upendo wa Mama group who make beautiful natural beeswax products to sell in the Hive shop alongside the honey. [/p][p]Aikande and Bhatendi are two inspirational and amazing women who are making such a difference through their dedicated work with women in Tanzania with Emmanuel International. We want to help them to be able to empower, support and encourage more women. The economic effect of the global COVID situation has drastically hit the market for these women who have little else to fall back on.[/p][p]We would love your help with either a one-off donation here, regular monthly support through Emmanuel International or your own fundraising efforts! We know there are so many needs right now but even contributing the cost of a cup of coffee each month could help the women at The Hive through this coming year!
